Many thanks to the Japanese moms and Ms. Fell for teaching us about calligraphy. You can check out our work in the hallway. We have been working hard on an awesome hands on geometry unit. We are learning about different types of polygons, the definition of a polygon, and how to calculate area using tiles. Great to see so many 2M families at science night! Did you see the composting exhibit? Or the elephant toothpaste? Or the human brain?! Between writing, going to Flat Stanley, learning about Japan, and practicing math strategies, we were busy!
It's been a busy week in 2M! We had a great trip to see Flat Stanley at the Boston Children's Theater and we made samurai hats today out of Japanese newspapers. Many thanks to the Japanese Consulate for mailing us the newspapers!
Today we learned about kimonos and tried weaving our own. Here are the directions if you want to try it at home!
As part of our new unit on Japan, yesterday we celebrated Girls' Day with an origami project. Many thanks to Ms. Fell and the Japanese moms for helping out! |
