We have been immersed in non-fiction writing these past weeks! Here are some of our ideas about "how to" and "all about" books. Come by 2M to see our ideas up close!
We have started observing a rotting log in 2M. Here is our second set of observations. Check out what we noticed and the questions we have! Today we started writing out biography reports! After two weeks of researching and a week of organizing, 2M researchers were ready to start their "all about" books. Here is an example of what one student in the Helen Keller group did today. Ask your child about "Captain Capital!" As we have learned new addition and subtraction strategies, we have added them to our strategy wall. We hope this chart will also be helpful to you as you work on math homework at home.
We kicked off our biography unit learning about people who made a difference. This was our first poem! In 2M we have been solidifying three subtraction strategies: the traditional algorithm, subtracting by place value, and using a number line. This game, the greatest difference wins, practices subtraction with a number line. |
